Chapter 20

The spring sun is out.

Dandelions are in full bloom

The subtle sunsets follow the fuzzy seeds of the flower in a nameless whirl.

As witches rule the dusk and water the dark hues of the night

Taking over our imaginations and yearnings of a better tomorrow

For love lost, memories not made and time wasted by staring into the nothingness that has become this spring.

Glasses break in the kitchen every now and then, pushing hopes of good luck higher than they were last night,

last week,

last month.

But the only good is in our cups of tea and rosé spilled on grey carpets,

The only hope the morning brings is being able to watch your loved ones breathe in their sleep

Unravelling pain like you’ve never felt before

As the days die out and the person in the mirror remains unchanged and a stranger all the same.

There is freedom in heartbreak.

This uncertainty drags on like a dreamless sleep or is it just one long nightmare?

I’ll walk down a road in my dream and maybe walk into yours

Only if you leave the doors open

Let the love creep in

And let it stay as the sun comes up and you miss me more.

This could be everything you’ve ever wanted but you’re afraid.

Be infinite in your faults but never hold your peace.
